After their big kickoff announcement in June, Virgin Cruises has been relatively quiet. Their debut is years away and they aren't selling any cabins or cruises yet. However, there is still plenty of work underway. Fox News interviewed Virgin Cruise CEO Tom McAlpin about the new line and how they will differ from other cruise lines.
Much of what McAlpin shared was already known, but he provided two glimpses that should make Virgin stand out. The desired simplicity in an era when even booking a cruise has become complicated and the disinterest in families. Virgin will have kids facilities but they are not going to put the emphasis nor the marketing power on families like other lines have.

Virgin Cruises wants your input
Richard Branson took to the air (literally via helicopter!) to announce the latest developments in his new cruise company, Virgin Cruises. TravelPulse and Cruise Radio had all the press conference details. Much of what shared was already known -- sailing from Miami, a Virgin experience at sea, new ships, etc. What wasn't known was that Virgin wants to hear from their fans and potential cruisers. They have set up a website, a Facebook account and a Twitter address all in an effort to solicit requests and feedback as they shape their new cruise line.
How many customer suggestions will they use between now and their 2020 launch? No one knows, but engaging the customer like this can only lead to good things. This will create a sense of loyalty and connection before they've even named a ship. Hopefully it will also lead to some revolutionary ideas. So if you've had a great idea or feature for a cruise, Virgin wants to hear it.

Get a first look at design for Virgin Cruises
For curious cruise lovers, the best part of the ongoing lawsuit between Virgin Cruises and former Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Colin Veitch is learning about all the details of the new cruise line. The above picture (via Cruise Hive) offers a glimpse into the new look and sheer size of Richard Branson's latest venture. The ships would be some of the largest at sea and hold over 4,000 passengers.
Regardless of the suit, Virgin Cruises is still going forward and should be sailing in the near future.
